The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico

The Full Story
Puerto Rico's Native Animals
Puerto Rico has many incredible and native animals that are truly a brain shattering worthy sight. Due to Puerto Rico’s unique tropical climate, the animals that inhabit the area are also tropical. One of Puerto Rico’s most well known animals is the Coqui, which is it’s national animal, as well, and is a brown colored frog and makes loud, shrill noises. Other animals native to Puerto Rico are the Green Mango, which is the smallest avian pollinator in Puerto Rico (4.3–5.5 inches (11–14 cm) long and weighs around 0.25 ounces (7 g)), the Puerto Rican Parrot, which is severely endangered due to habitat destruction (wild population around 34-40) and the Bananaquit, which are the most common in Puerto Rico. Bananaquits feast on nectar and have a raspy scratchy song. In all, Puerto Rico’s animals are truly authentic and are great for first time travelers to exhibit.
